Kiwiwebs Software Helps NZCAR Succeed

As microchipping has become more common place and in the case of dogs a legal requirement, the New Zealand Companion Animal Trust recognised there was a need for a suitable New Zealand based animal repatriation system.

Over 460,000 animal records are currently stored in the NZCAR....

The New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR) database was created in 2007 as a method for recording the animal and owner details of New Zealand based microchipped animals. After presenting a software plan, along with branding ideas and suggestions for how the system should work Kiwiwebs Limited won the contract to create the New Zealand Companion Animal Register.

In 2016 Kiwiwebs launched a major update of the software to bring it up to date and to adapt it to better suit the current trends in internet usage. Modifications include an updated website, a new responsive design, the building in of new end-user features and increased security to ensure the database maintains its record of privacy and data protection.

Profits from the NZCAR go back to the NZCAT, who distribute these amongst various animal welfare charities as well as using the funds to promote the causes of animal protection and welfare. Since 2007 over $2.8 million has been raised for the trust.
